The Big Hit Tennis Academy is passionate about teaching tennis to everyone, young and old, beginners to advanced. David and Yvonne both started playing tennis when they were children and it has taken them around the world. These two highly experienced, coaches have gained so much enjoyment and fulfilment from this great sport that they want to share what they know with as many people as they can. They create a fun, energetic, learning environment in all their lessons which makes the Big Hit Tennis Academy one of  the best places to learn this wonderful game. David and Yvonne married in Wicklow in 2008 and have 2 active and sporting teenage boys
They are very happy to call Avoca their home.

DAVID SHEEHAN

• Fed Cup 41 caps for Ireland, 11 years, 1992 and 1999-2008 inclusive 
• Longstanding Irish Senior No.1 and  Junior no1 in all age levels 
• WTA Touring professional 2000-2005
• Highest WTA world ranking of 238 singles, 201 Doubles. 
• Full Athletic scholarship to the University of San Diego Div1 Tennis 1993 - 1997 
• BA Accounting, University of San Diego
• Competed in over 70 professional tournaments
• Irish Open Winner 2001  ($10,000 event)
• Winner at Hull LTA $25,000 event 1999
• Winner of the Danone Masters series 2004+2005
• Irish Ladies Fed Cup non-playing Captain for 6 years, 2013-2018​
• Recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Irish Tennis Award 2022
• Recipient of ITF Fed Cup Commitment Award 2018 for players who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to representing their country.
